Artist of the week - xSDTRK

Yonatan “xSDTRK” Ayal is an award winning producer from Montreal. Starting with the piano at the age of three, xSDTRK studied at the Toronto Royal Conservatory, and has since moved on to become a multi-instrumentalist working in all musical genres.

Bear Language, a three piece alt. rock group from Boston, is one of the most promising rock trio's known for heavy yet groovy sound and explosive live sets. 

Phosphorescent - Muchacho

Matthew Houck, aka Phosphorescent, likes to work. The Alabama native, now resident in Brooklyn has delivered five albums as Phosphorescent since his 2003 debut. Houck has a highly distinctive artistic voice, but also a refreshing, rolled-sleeves approach to his expression (Deadocean). 

Qualia - Beginnings

Qualia is the solo project of Dan Leader from Cambridge UK, started in2010. The sound incorporates pianos and layers of guitar for an ethereal
ambient and post-rock style. 

As of early 2013 there have been 9 releases all available for free download on Bandcamp, including this most recent releases entitled 'Beginnings' which is a more laid-back approach than previous releases.

New Artist of the Week - Zora

Zora is the music project and alias of multi-instrumentalist Larry Hansen from Wasilla, Alaska, USA. Hansen has been creating music consistently for over three years with early projects dating back to 2007.

R&B Artist of the Week - 진보 (Jinbo)

Meet the 26-year-old South Korean R&B artist, Jinbo. Known for his ambient, cosmic meloldies combined with 90's hip-hop beats, he delivers smooth vocals heavily influenced by the likes of R. Kelly, Michael Jackson, A-ha, etc...

His 2010 album, Afterwork, won the award for "Best R&B/Soul album of the year" at the Korean Music Awards. The newest offering from Jinbo, entitled Fantasy, is supposed to be released March 13th. Be sure to check out an upcoming Korean indie artist!

Tame Impala – Mind Mischief (Ducktails Remix)


Tame Impala, a 5-piece pyschadelic rock outfit from Australia, just released their newest album, last October and was one of the most highly received of the year. 

The NYC-based producer/DJ adds in hip-hop and electronic elements to the fun by infusing heavy bass and percussion into the mix. This refix is also featured on the Mind Mischief single EP (Hypetrak). Check it out below:


Rapper of the Week - Shad

Shadrach Kabango (age 30) is a Canadian rapper known for his positive, charismatic, and witty style. With a masters in liberal studies, Shad often seams contemporary social commentary within the his unique and masterful lyricism. 

His newest album, TSOL was nominated for the Polaris Music PrizeMuchMusic Video Award, and won the Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year at the 2011 Juno Awards. One of the most underrated hip hop artists of all time, check out Shad!

Video Game Spotlight - Rayman

First Released in 1995, Rayman is a 2D platform puzzle game from Ubisoft. It is a series that encompasses over 8 games, with the newest game to be released later this year. Drawing influence from Russian and Celtic fairy tales, Rayman follows an armless, legless, and neckless hero who has to travel through six worlds to free Electoons. 


The game is not only known for its vibrant atmospheres, but also its soundtrack which was mostly composed by Rémi Gazel. It was awarded "Best Music in a CD-ROM Game" in Electronic Gaming Monthly's 1995 Video Game Awards. Check it out!
